Life Without Health - Is It Worth Living
The most essential affair in this life is our health and well being and we need to do all that we can to preserve it. Certainly other things are essential also, we need an liberal supply of money to live in the world, we require companionship and shelter in order to continue a healthy level of life, but in one author's mind, no one thing is as crucial than our health and well being. now that I've said this, how will I back it up?
While my thoughts belong to me, they do contain substance and are not simply ramblings. I was forunate to have (or had) a good friend whose center of attention in life the acquiring of wealth, this did not make him a bad person, quite the reverse is true, more than once he came to me during difficult times desiring to help, yet he is no longer with us, he lost his health and then his life. This is not what happens everyday and I certainly do not want to color this piece with darkness, rather inspiration.
This is not an article for religious topics, yet in my heartI believe fervently that the essense that is us continues and life is amerely rehearsal for the next; but I want to assure you I want to enjoy this life 110%, enjoying, breathing in the air, feeling the excitement of the wind in my hair and the beauty of a colorful sunset. When my journey on planet earth if done, I'll move unafraid to my maker, but until then, I will continue to journey unflinchingly across the land and this can only be done with my health.
One skeptic wondered! 'Why is health more important than wealth?'
Very simply, when we have our health and wellbeing we can strive, we can produce a living, we can generate resumes, go on job interviews, follow our dreams, tackle new endeavors, live up to and exceed our dreams, but only if we have the vigor and well being to do so. As I sit here pondering this article, I'm overlooking the water, it is quiet and serene and my thoughts are unburdened and can meander and soar, but my thoughts are fueled by my body and my body by healthy nutrition, exercise and a positive take on my life; again, all this is fueled by excellent health.
Each night as I lay down to sleep, I think positive thoughts, I perform deep breathing, I connect with God (yes I believe He exists), and I thank him for my strength, but I am careful to not take it for granted, I strive to keep it that way. Every day (and I do not get up early, tending to write late into the night) I'll do a series of stretching movements and lite aerobics to speed up my metabolism. I'm lucky, I have good genes, my mother lived to be 94 and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these practices from them and I do not take these practices, nor my health for granted.
I guess I'm somewhat on a soapbox, having lost two close friends; two friends I had much regard for, but two friends who are now gone from this plane of existence. I do not grieve for them; knowing they now fly free, but I miss talking and sharing their company and desire that they were still sitting here with me.
If there is any moral to this, it is simply to be grateful for the life given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no definite answer as to what will occur when we leave this life, I can tender this counsel.
Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
