Dry and Oily Skin: Proper Skin Care and Acne Products
Having healthy skin is about a lot more than just looking good. In fact, our skin is the largest organ in our body and it helps protect us from bacteria and infection. If our skin were unhealthy or damaged, our bodies would be susceptible to all kinds of problems.
Finding the best skin care will depend on properly identifying your type of skin. There are three basic types of skin: oily, dry and combination. In this article we will focus on the first two types.
Identify your Skin Type
Here is how you can determine what type of skin you have. First, wash your face with a skin cleanser, rinse and pat dry. Wait for one hour and note whether your skin feels tight or not.
Next, press a separate piece of tissue paper on: your chin, your nose, the center of your cheeks, the outer part of you cheeks, the center of your forehead and the outer part of your forehead. Check the tissue for any signs of oily residue or flaky skin residue.
You will have dry skin if each tissue paper has flaky skin residue. If each piece of tissue paper has oily residue, then you are considered to have oily skin. Having discovered your skin type will leave you better equipped to pick the right skin care routine for your skin. This includes finding the right skin products and acne products.
Skin Care for Dry and Oily Skin
Dry skin should be treated with care. Products that contain fragrances and other fillers usually irritate dry skin. This is why it is a good idea to stay away from these types of products.
Dry skin care should use a cream or oil cleanser followed by a moisturizer. Exfoliating is also important for maintaining skin balance. You can exfoliate by using natural products such as milk or grape juice for a gentler exfoliation.
Oily skin care also requires cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. For this type of skin you are better off using foaming cleansers. Mechanical exfoliators and water-based moisturizers are the best option for this type of skin.
The Best Acne Products for Dry & Oily Skin
Acne affects both oily skin and dry skin types. The best acne creams for each skin type contain different ingredients especially catered to their necessities.
Oily skin is more capable of withstanding the harsher ingredients in most traditional acne products. To control acne in these skin types, make sure that your acne products contain salicylic acid, retinoids and/or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients help control excess sebum production, clogged pores and acne bacteria.
Dry skin must be kept adequately moisturized to help control acne problems. Non-comedogenic oils such as castor oil and olive oil can help cleanse your skin without irritating it. However, instead of products containing benzoyl peroxide, try using creams that contain tea tree oil.
For acne skin care to be successful, it must be catered to each type of skin. Natural skin care products such as BIOSKINCLEAR and BIOACNECARE are excellent treatments for acne because they are gentle yet effective. These natural skin care products are made with Helix Aspersa Muller extract, a gentle natural ingredient that is known to help treat acne without causing irritation.
