What Is Goth Style
How do you define the Goth style? First and most importantly, it's about freely expressing your individuality. The Goth lifestyle is very popular. Teens are into it, but you may be surprised to learn that people in their twenties and older are adopting it too. The biggest aspects of Goth dress are clothing, hair style, make-up, and accessories.
Black is a predominant color. In fact, most people associate all or mostly black outfits with Goth fashion. It's usually combined with dramatic accessories such as velvet or fishnet tights and chunky silver jewelry. Now while black is still the ruling color of all colors when it comes to Goths, dark or even bright jewel tones are coming into the scene to add a feel of punk rock. That's the subculture the Goth style came from.
Another important part of the Goth style is hair. Hair has a lot of potential here. It is the one part of the body that's the easiest to style into an endless variety of different looks. Goths tend to dye their hair and/or wear wigs.
Colors range from black to pink and everything in between, but usually are limited to one flat color, or one color with highly contrasting, chunky highlights. When it comes to Goth hair, "subtle" is a word that does not apply. Anything from shaved heads, blunt cuts, bobs, angled cuts, and Mohawks are acceptable in Goth fashion. These hair styles are worn by everyone from men, women, boys, and girls.
Traditionally, Goth makeup has included a lot of black - black liquid eyeliner, dark mascara, and even black lipstick are often staples of the make-up kit for someone into Goth style. Men and women alike wear make-up to contribute to their originality. Some Goths will inject color into their make-up with dark red lipstick or even colored fake eyelashes. Many use a white foundation or cheek color for the sake of contrast.
